MAEA Knob 2019
This year my coworker and myself presented at the Missouri Arts Educator Association fall Conference in KnobNoster Missouri. We were able to carpool to Osceolla Cheese Factory and drive the three hours from Joplin to Camp Bob White area where around 150 other area art teachers were there to share our ideas and inspiration for our classrooms. I always love attending KnobNoster because of the amazing new classroom ideas I can try out and learn to apply to my own art curriculum. For this years conference we shared our experiences and lesson of Plaster Relief Carving. We had a well attended presentation with around 25 people all there to see how we use plaster in our classroom. We shared our lesson plan, presentation and handouts with the group. The best part about the workshop is that we then gave the participants an actual mold of plaster to carve a relief and try out for themselves.
Later that night we got to participate in a canvas painting as our District 9. The theme was "Game On," and we had a Candy Land theme that we created. These canvas' then get auctioned off during the Spring Conference to raise money. Overall, KnobNoster was another great experience and I will use a lot of the experiences I learned in the class this year.....stay tuned.
